#MarketMonday in Rome, Italy

It's early morning at Campo de' Fiori market in Rome. Ideally we have just had cappuccinos and cornetti at Tazza D'Oro. Everything looks delicious because it is Rome---and even the air is delicious. These eggplants catch our eye.

We will take them home and fry them as simply as possible in good olive oil with a bit of salt and pepper. We'll stuff the tender slices of eggplant into fresh-baked rolls--making the most basic of panini. Into our knapsack they will go; along with a bottle of chilled Frascati. Off to the Orange Gardens on the top of the Aventine Hill we'll go---for the ultimate Roman picnic. http://ow.ly/o2AF1

What would you make with these 'melanzane'---and what wine would you drink with it? #MarketMonday
